Expression of Interest (EOI) for Business and General Skilled Migration Visas
Before embarking on starting an application for a Business/Investor category or General Skilled Migration(GSM) visa it is necessary to undergo a skills assessment and to achieve a minimum number of points.
The minimum number of points gained does not guarantee that you will be selected to apply for a visa, but the higher the number of points the better the prospects.
The current pass marks are as follows;
Category | Current Pass Mark |
Skilled-Independent (subclass 189) | 65 |
Skilled-Sponsored (subclass 190) | 65 |
Skilled-Regional Sponsored (subclass 489) | 65 |
Business Innovation and Investment (subclass 188) | 65 |
Expression of Interests are usually offered to applicants on a monthly basis. Your application can remain in the pool for 2 years before it drops out of the system, and occupation ceiling limits are put in place by the Department of Home Affairs to meet Australia’s skills needs.
A Correct EOI is Important
It is important to correctly complete and submit your EOI because if your are offered the opportunity to apply for the visa and your points calculation is incorrect then your visa application is likely not to be successful. This can both be both costly in time and money.
